What is suffering? A student of philosophy who had a special interest in Bhuddhism asked a very good question.
What does it means to suffer?
Suffering is nothing. It is nothing but a made up imagination of something that someone is under so as to have something to be so sad about , to sulk about or feel sorry for. It is like Satan or Devil , existence of which is not proven but is thought to exist.
More so , fuelled by the need of it, it is created by one’s own self. Choices are very personal and we all choose to exercise our choices, which lead to consequences. The outcomes are a result of our choices that we took in the past defining our today and your decisions of today will shape your tomorrow.
Then there are aspects that you cant help. Outcomes subjected to situations that can’t be helped. Some call it fate. Fate is a funny term. It has that kind of rigidity about it, the only thing resistant to change. Now, if for a moment we dwell into as to why is this resistance to change is desired.
Desires fuel the expectations
And you feel the suffering because you expect.
Desires can vary from women to wealth and from material to health.
The need of permanancy is itself a fallacy.
You experience a certain feeling and it elates you leading too higher states of happiness. Now because it felt nice while it prevailed you feel the need to revisit it . Revisit this need and replace it with the gratitude of witnessing that emotion for the moment while it prevailed.
Instead we expect, and mourn in its absence. The experience that may manifest itself in a different form or in a better form if we look at it from the absolute perspective of the moment, is missed for its previous form, like it was, the crave for that same rush not accounting for factor of time which shapes many facets and the people which change the constitution of human energy component that fuels the moment with a different experience of togetherness every single time.
When you decipher the puzzle, you understand there is no puzzle, all drama, by a self that seeks self attention. Quieten that self and you will find the sufferings vanishing away
